Free YouTube to MP4 Converter by Media Freeware

Free YouTube to MP4 Converter is a Windows desktop application from Media Freeware for downloading YouTube videos and converting them to MP4 files. Despite its name, the application performs both steps: it downloads the video from YouTube and then converts it, so it also works as a standalone downloader. The product page also presents it as a way to convert .flv files saved from YouTube into MP4 for playback.

Core Functionality

The interface is straightforward. Users import a video URL, and the application handles the remaining steps. Each imported link is checked for validity before downloading, then added to a download list from which the user selects the items to fetch. Several links can be imported at once with the “Add Bulk URL” option, which accepts a list with one link per line.

A Search tab locates specific videos, and the results can be added to the download list. Downloads can be stopped at any time with the “Stop Download” button. The Settings tab includes proxy server options, where credentials can be entered for downloads routed through a proxy.

Key Features

• Download and conversion: Retrieves YouTube videos and converts them to MP4 within the same workflow.
• Parallel downloads: Handles several files simultaneously, with the number of parallel downloads adjustable. Higher values suit fast internet connections.
• Bulk import: Adds multiple links from a list in a single step.
• Built-in search: Finds specific videos without leaving the application.
• Proxy support: Accepts credentials for proxy server use in the Settings tab.
• High-speed conversion: Conversion speed is listed among the application’s key features.
• Windows compatibility: Listed as compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows.
